The story of olive oil
Then.
For thousands of years, olive oil was used for nourishment and wellbeing. Hippocrates famously called it “the great healer.”

Now.
Modern science has helped explain why.
Olive oil’s benefits come from healthy fats and naturally occurring polyphenols.

The Connection.
Polyphenols are produced by the olive tree as a natural defence against its environment.
Those same compounds can also support the body when consumed.

From nourishment to commodity.
In recent decades, olive oil has become a global commodity.
Much of it is produced to maximise yield,
not to preserve quality or potency.

A lack of transparency.
Independent studies show that much of the olive oil sold globally does not meet expected quality standards, eroding trust across the category.

The solution.
The goal was to return olive oil to what it was always meant to be —
a functional food, valued for what it delivers.

Why this was personal.
We had access to olive oil
from a small, naturally cultivated,
rain-fed family grove.

Why this was personal.
When we moved abroad, that changed. The olive oil available was abundant,
but it lacked the quality and health effects we were used to.

Verified, not guessed.
Today, Baseline works with a small number of producers who prioritise quality over yield.
Every batch is independently lab-tested, with results made available to you.

No guesswork. Just verified quality.
